It’s always important to be aware of when your car insurance policy is set to expire. If you don’t renew it in time, then you could find yourself uninsured and at risk if you get into an accident. It’s a quick and easy process and can be done in just a few minutes. Stay safe on the road by keeping track of your policy expiration date! In this guide, we will show you how to check the expiry date of your policy online.

    Let’s get started.

What is an Expiration Date of Insurance Policy?

Your insurance policy has an expiration date, which is the date when your coverage ends. You will no longer be insured if you don’t renew your policy by this date. You can usually find the expiration date on your insurance card or in your policy documents.

Most insurance policies have a grace period of 30 days, during which you can still renew your policy even if it has expired. However, if you let the grace period lapse, then you will have to reapply for coverage and may have to pay a higher premium.

Ways to Check Expiry Date of Car Insurance Policy Online

There are mainly three ways that you can check the expiry date of your car insurance policy online, and they are as follows:

    • Use the Insurance Information Bureau to check the Expiration Date

The Insurance Information Bureau (IIB) is a not-for-profit organization that was set up to help policyholders with their queries. If you have any doubts about the validity of your car insurance policy, then you can contact the IIB for clarification.

To do this, visit their website and fill in your details in the online form. Once you have submitted the form, an IIB representative will get in touch with you to confirm the expiry date of your policy.

    • Use VAHAN to check the Expiry Date

If you want to check the expiry date of your car insurance policy, then you can use the VAHAN portal. All you need is your car registration number and engine number. You will also need to provide your email address so that the results can be sent to you.

The process is simple and takes only a few minutes. Once you have provided all the required information, you will be able to see the expiry date of your policy on the screen. You can also choose to receive a copy of the results via email.

    • Ask your Insurer about the Expiry Date

The best way to determine when your car insurance policy expires is to ask your insurer. They will be able to tell you the exact date of expiry. If you are unsure who your insurer is, then you can check the paperwork that came with your policy. Alternatively, you can look up your policy online.

Most insurers will send out a reminder letter or email before your policy is due to expire. This will give you plenty of time to renew your policy or switch to a new one.

    The Bottom Line

The best way to check the expiration date of your car insurance policy is to contact your insurance company directly. You can also find this information online, but it may be harder to locate. If you have any questions about your policy or coverage, then ask your agent or broker.
